Born in
Athens, Alabama a very, very long time ago. Studied
mathematics and science through high school and college
adding a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and an MBA
in Marketing, post graduate.
She
worked in the science side of things for a limited time
before discovering she much preferred people to Petri
dishes. Spent much of her career in Sales and ended up as
Vice President of Training and Development for an
international Human Resource Consulting firm.
Bobbi
didn’t discover her “artistic” side until after she had
retired from the business world to the mountains of western
North Carolina. She moved here with her husband, the Artist
in the family at that time, so that he would be in an
environment conducive to the continuing of his artistic
endeavors.
Once
established in Murphy,
North
Carolina,
to pass the time, she enrolled in classes at the John C.
Campbell
Folk
School.
In the past 7 years, she has taken over 60 classes in
a variety of artistic areas, but became fascinated with
glass as an artist’s medium after taking an introductory
kiln-formed glass class.
She has
been working in fused glass for about 6 and a-half years.
When the local art glass store closed its doors, and she
wasn’t happy with the fact that glass ordered on-line often
didn’t look like the photo on the website, she added hand
painted glass to her résumé and began creating her own
painted patterns on her pieces. She has taken many Fused
Glass classes, including a number of advanced classes at
both the
John
C
Campbell
Folk
School
and at Arrowmont School for the Arts in
Gatlinburg,
TN.
She
works out of her home studio in Murphy, North
Carolina
and teaches Fused Glass classes at the
John
C.
Campbell
Folk
School
in Brasstown, N.C.
